Uranium has been one of our most successful positions since we originally added it to our multi-asset portfolios in 2020. It is down roughly 30% since its peak early last year, but still up over 300% since we initially added it to our portfolios. We still see a very bright future for Uranium and believe the pullback from the peak last year was just that; a pullback within a structural long term bull market. We believe Uranium is poised to make new all-time highs in the coming years because there is a long term supply deficit while demand is ramping globally on the back of new nuclear power plants coming online like gangbusters throughout the world.
There are currently 440 operational reactors globally with 66 under construction and 85 more planned. Nuclear is the only reliable, scalable way to keep up with the world’s voracious demand for energy while producing zero-emissions and policy makers are on-board.
We love it as a portfolio component in our multi-asset portfolios, because it is not in any way correlated to other assets in the portfolio and can do well regardless of how stock indices, bonds and other commodities behave, adding important portfolio diversification.
